Bill King has been producing records since the mid 1960s. Back then it was 45s and the occasional album. Radio played a huge part of daily life keeping Bill in tune with the world of music beyond the home. It was James Brown, Otis Redding, The Who, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Stones as well as Stravinsky, Chopin, Barbara Streisand, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock, Burt Bacharach,Chick Corea, Weather Report that filled the music room. It's always been a broad interest in music that helped shaped the way he hears music in the recording studio.
These days it's the singers that interest most. Having worked with many of the finest from Martha Reeves, Linda Ronstandt, Janis Joplin, the Pointer Sisters and others - Bill brings a wealth of experience to the studio. "It's all about hearing and helping each singer find their own voice. There's a region in the voice you have to locate that connects the heart and brain exposing the soul in a singer," says King. "It's my purpose to help them find the right songs, right musicians - create arrangements that enhance and bring the best out of each individual in the studio."
